Culture, Environment and Digital Life Academic Articles and Research

This section explores how social isolation, internet and social media use, housing insecurity, community breakdown and the reserved nature of UK culture can intensify neurological and mental health symptoms. It contrasts this with cultures that maintain stronger family and community networks, asking what practical lessons can be transferred to help people keep functioning in everyday life despite enduring neurological conditions. Over time, this part of the site will also bring together key academic articles on culture, environment and digital life, with the broader aim of supporting and, where possible, funding research into how societal structures can either protect or worsen neurodivergent experiences.
