Dopamine Justice Alliance supports people whose lives have been damaged by the compulsive side effects of dopamine agonist drugs, as well as bereaved family members who later discover the role these medications played. Support is offered in the strictest confidence, with great care for the emotional and practical impact of uncovering this history.
Strictly confidential emotional support
- One‑to‑one, trauma‑informed emotional support for victims and relatives who are processing shock, grief, guilt or anger after learning about dopamine agonist side effects.
- Space to talk through experiences without judgement, including the financial, relational and psychological consequences of compulsive behaviours triggered by these drugs.
- Clear boundaries around confidentiality, spelled out in our privacy and safeguarding policies.
Help with records and evidence
- Guidance on how to request and access medical, hospital, GP, mental health and dental records, as well as relevant financial or personal documentation.
- Practical support to organise large volumes of records into a coherent structure (for example, by date, provider, medication, or symptom), including simple templates.
- Step‑by‑step explanation of how to use “find” and other search tools in word‑processed or scanned documents to track key terms, medications, dates and events, so that a clear chronological history can be built.
Learning from lived experience
- A detailed case example based on my late father’s story, showing how thousands of pages of medical and personal records were turned into a clear narrative of what happened and when.
- Practical tips, checklists and example timelines to help others do the same work in a way that feels manageable rather than overwhelming.
Signposting and urgent support
- Information on how to reach urgent crisis support if someone is at immediate risk of harm.
- Signposting to specialist organisations that can provide additional emotional support, both urgent and non‑urgent, including bereavement, addiction, debt and mental health services.
- Guidance on how family members can seek their own support, even when the affected person is unable or unwilling to engage.
Secure handling of information
- Relevant information shared with Dopamine Justice Alliance will be stored on a secure, access‑controlled system, in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Visitors will be able to review our privacy and data‑handling policies at any time to understand what is collected, why it is collected, who can access it, and how long it is retained.
Accessible ways to share your story
- Support with basic digital tools such as email, document sharing and video calls (for example, Zoom) so that people are not excluded because of typing difficulties, (computer) literacy issues or disabilities.
- Options to record spoken accounts, which can then be transcribed and organised for those who struggle to write long narratives.
Working towards justice and accountability
- With consent, anonymised information and case histories will contribute to building the bigger picture of harm caused by dopamine agonist side effects.
- This growing evidence base will be used to explore and support collective legal action (including potential class actions) and wider advocacy against those responsible for the dopamine agonist scandal.
